I had a Mill-Drill converted to CNC with steppers and the DeskCNC controller board and Geckos driving. I am looking for a slightly larger work evnelope however. All I ever do is load the NC straight from Aspire, zero the machine and hit go. I like the Vectric software combined with the DeskCNC. I just check when the estimated finish time is and come back then. I d a lot of VCarve stuff on the mill in wood or plastic but I have never pushed the speed. Would I buy another one? I will let you know when the control software gets updated, perhaps in a week or so. I like the DeskCNC control system as it is not dependant on the computer and the parallel port to control your CNC, but a serial or USB port which is more forgiving. I am assuming they have a crew building the machines, but no one seems to be checking them before they get shipped out.īut once you get the machine repaired, de-bugged and running it seems to do fine. The machine itself is pretty well designed, a couple of minor details need to be re-thought. To get the VCarving done right now I have slowed the machine down and I'm hoping the programmer has a new version for me to try soon. Seems to be two issues, one the machine is overrated as to actual real speeds, (but still within a very useable range) and two the control program needed some tweaking to handle the VCarve software or carving small detail in general. They have stopped blaming the customer and now are addressing the real problems. Well, After much back and forth with Fred and then getting on IM Services private forum, and finding out I am not the only one having problems with the 12x24 Router. I do remeber at the time Fred telling me the power supply was marginal on the mill with the fourth axis. I use the IMService system on my Sherline lathe and router and am quite happy with it. I am considering buying one of these units. Rscconrad wrote:Was this issue ever resolved? ![]()
